I began my career working as a carer. After completing my NVQ 3 and after 3 years of training, I achieved a nursing degree. I was initially based on cardiology at Ipswich Hospital. After loosing my beloved sister, Rula, I came up with the idea of setting up a care agency. This I did with Louise in 2016. With the onset of Covid we decided to branch out into Home care. At the same time and whilst working at a GP Surgery, I completed my Nurse practitioner training and still work, part time, for GP's. I wanted Rula Homecare to encompass my sisters compassion, zest for life and eagerness to support others. After 23 years of caring and supporting others I think we have accomplished this, in her name.

I began my career, in care, 39 years ago, at the age of 16. For 20 years I worked supporting the elderly in care homes, working my way up to Deputy manager. I left care for a short time, but worked with the Samaritans. In 2016, along with Umar, we set up Rula Care Agency, supplying care homes with nurses and carers. I was running the "back office" as well as hands on care. After life experience I completed a foundation degree in counselling at the University of Suffolk. Care has always been my passion so I utilise my counseling skills, within the company, for anyone; clients, staff who need it. Just as Covid was appearing we decided to broaden our skills into home care and here I am, today, helping to run our bespoke, professional and compassionate home care service. I have experience with Supporting older people, those with mental health illnesses and neuro-divergent adults and children.

Over 10 years experience in this industry, helped me deliver high quality support for service users in the community, Nursing Homes, Residential Care homes, Supported living accommodation and their own homes. I started as a healthcare assistant, learned as much as I could and then moved to the next step. I started taking more and more responsibilities, accomplished more training and stepped into a Team Leader role, 3 months later I become a Unit Manager in a Nursing Home. From here I explored management inside out in various different settings as mentioned above. Finding the right place, now, we have managed together to build support for a high number of clients across Suffolk. As we all know, in this industry, work never ends, we are constantly trying to improve and become the best version of ourselves. I am part of a great team with high aspirations and values, wanting to deliver the best support we can to everyone supported by us.

I have been in recruitment for over 20 years, working within various industries but finally found my home and where i belong within the care sector and especially supporting children and young people.
Becoming a CQC Registered Manager was one of the biggest achievements in my career and passing my Level 5 Diploma gave me the knowledge and ability to truly bring all i have learnt together to create the specialist support for children.
I am a mum of two children; one who is neurodivergent with various disabilities and challenges. Over the years we have struggled with finding right support and education due to a gap in the industry providing the right support for children like mine with their needs.
Since Joining Rula Homecare and launching the children division we have achieved an excellent reputation by providing a bespoke and dedicated service to those families who are requiring breaks.
